7 Secrets Of A Successful Witch

How do I become a better Witch?  How can I be sure my spells always work?  What are the secrets of a successful witch?

These are questions I’m asked all the time, and they are not always related.  People who find their Path in Witchcraft, who really know this is what they want, often wonder how they can be better.

• You’ve most likely read a lot of books by many different authors.  
• You know the basic elements of what a ritual is, and how to do it.  
• You know when the eight Sabbats are, and how to celebrate them.

Now what?

Witchcraft isn’t just about doing rituals.  It’s a lifestyle that you live.  Most books are fine for explaining the basics of ritual and the holidays, but that doesn’t make you a Priest or Priestess.  

I remember when I first came into The Craft.  I had read all the books that were available at the time, but I still didn’t feel like I knew anything that made me a Priest.  

I mean I didn’t really feel like a person of knowledge about Witchcraft.

I knew there was something more, something I was missing, but I just didn’t know what.  I talked to the people I knew in my local community, who I saw as being Priests and Priestesses, and tried to figure out what they had that I didn’t.

Well, the main thing they had that I didn’t was experience.  These are people who had been practicing their Craft for 20 years or more.  That didn’t help me.  I understood enough to know that there is no shortcut to experience.  It happens only over time.

I spent the next 20 years working at my Craft, and gaining experience.  You know, on this side of it, 20 years doesn’t seem like that long, but I know that at the time, it was literally a lifetime away from me.  I was in my early 20’s, and 20 more years was double my age!

That’s a long time!

Now that I’m twice as old as I was, I look back at that time and think “How stupid was I?”  I did things magickally, spiritually, and emotionally back then that I would never do now. 

They say that with age comes Wisdom.  I believe that Wisdom is nothing more than having tried everything, and found what doesn’t work.

What I eventually found that I was missing, was a teacher.  I’m not talking about someone taking me into a year and a day class on Witchcraft.  I mean someone who could guide me and explain to me in ways that books can’t.

A teacher is nothing more than a person who helps you to understand the things you want to understand.

I set up CyberWitchcraft initially as a place for people who had read the books, but were looking for more.  I’ve had to modify the original idea a bit, because I found a lot of people new to the Craft were coming here asking basic questions, but I’ve always kept that desire to provide more advanced information.

Now I can get back to the original purpose of the site.  Giving more advanced information to those who need it. 

If you go looking around the Net, you’ll find all sorts of people offering all sorts of Witchcraft secrets.  Most of them are simply trying to make a quick buck selling over priced crap.  If you want to know the secrets of Witchcraft, I’ll tell you, and I won’t charge you a dime.

The secrets of Witchcraft are that they really aren’t secrets at all.  I know, it’s a big let-down, but it’s the truth.  

The big secrets are things that you’ve probably heard other places, and in different contexts.  The real secret is adapting them for use in your Craft.

Secret #1

For example, the first step in being a successful Witch, is to know yourself. 

Yeah I know, you think you already know yourself.  Well, you do...to a point.  

The problem is, most people aren’t willing to sit down and take a long hard look at themselves.  Look at all those deep dark secrets you have, that no one else knows about.

We all have them, secrets that are too painful, or embarrassing, or shocking, to share with anyone else.  You don’t have to share them with anyone else, but you do need to share them with yourself. 

You need to acknowledge that these things about you are real, and that you did do them, or lived through them, and that they are a part of who you are. 

These things, however big or small, are what make you who you are.

If you can’t accept yourself, for who you are, and what you’ve done, you’ll never be able to grow beyond those things.  

It’s really that simple. 

In order to move on to a better future, you must make peace with your past.  Until you do, it will hold you back, and never let you go.

Self acceptance and self understanding is the first of the Seven Secrets to being a successful Witch.  

Actually, all Seven Secrets, when applied will make you a successful person, not just a successful Witch. 

I know what you’re thinking.  You’ve heard this all before, and you probably have. Anthony Robbins makes more money in a day than most make in a year, telling people this same stuff.

The difference is, you have to pay him $300 to hear him talk on CD’s, and he doesn’t know anything about Witchcraft.  

You see, as magickal thinkers, we understand that the mind is a powerful tool.  It can literally heal us in miraculous ways.  Everyone knows that we have only just scratched the surface of the mind. 

Magick itself is an art that has been around for millennia, yet it’s considered “New Age” because most don’t realize what it really is.

Magick is simply a set of techniques to get your mind to focus on an outcome of your choosing.  

By doing that, you make that outcome a certainty in your own mind, and your mind does the rest.  

Magick really isn’t magic at all. It’s simply developing a deeper part of your mind.

Think about this; why do people fail? 

People fail for a couple of reasons.  One of the biggest is that they don’t honestly believe that they can succeed.  I know that sounds stupid, but it’s true.  

I’ve always wanted to run my own business because I knew that I could never become rich working for someone else.  I get this drive from my father, and he got it from his father.

I can remember, long before the Internet became popular, I had many ideas for products that I might sell and become rich from.  I’ve even seen several of my ideas make others rich, but I never developed them. 

Why?  

Because I never thought I could succeed.

Secret #2

Let me give you an example.  This is how the thought process usually went. 
What the product was, makes no difference, it’s the process that’s important.  

I would come up with an idea for a product.  I thought it was a good product, and since I didn’t know how I could get it manufactured by someone else, I figured I would have to make it myself.

That’s not a problem, if no one buys it, I’m only out the time and effort I put into making it.  I wouldn’t owe some manufacturer a lot of money.  

But what if it sold well, I mean really well?  What if I couldn’t keep up with the demand, because it was selling so well?  

Now I would have customers waiting for a product I couldn’t make enough of, and they would be upset, and decide not to buy.

So the idea for the product was good.  Too good.  I wouldn’t be able to supply enough to keep up with demand. 

Do you see where I set myself up to fail?  Not once, but at least twice! 

First, I assumed that I would have to make the product myself, that I wouldn’t be able to find someone who could make it for me, in quantities appropriate to my needs, however few, or many I might need.

Second, I set myself up with the fear of success, not failure.  

I fully expected I might fail, but it never occurred to me that I might succeed! 

People fear success far more than they fear failure.  If they fail, well at least they tried, and no one will fault them for it, but if they find they are successful, well that brings with it a whole new set of worries!

People don’t believe that they can, or even should, succeed!  

This doesn’t just apply to dreams of running some company, it applies to everyday life.  

You tell a friend that you want to do a money spell to win the lottery, what is the first thing they are going to tell you?  “You can’t do that!”  Why?  Why can’t you do a money spell to win the lotto?

Secret #3

Well first off, you probably don’t really believe that you deserve that kind of money. 

Oh, you do?  

If you really believe that you deserve millions of dollars, then you already have plans for what you’ll do with it.  I don’t mean vague undefined plans. I mean that if you really believe you should have millions of dollars, you know in detail, just what you’ll do with it when you win.  

You’ll notice I said when, not if, you win.  

Because if you really feel that you should have money like that, it’s not if, it’s only a matter of when.  Which is why you have the plans thought out about what you’ll do with the money when you get it.

Do you see how this works?  If you haven’t set yourself up to succeed, you’ve set yourself up to fail.  You are the only thing standing between where you are now, and your success.  

It’s a harsh reality.  A big part of Witchcraft is taking responsibility for yourself and your actions.  In this case, taking responsibility for your inactions. 

If you haven’t done what it takes to be successful, you’ve done everything it takes to be a failure.  This isn’t something someone else can do for you.  You can’t blame anyone else for your failure. 

On the other hand, you can’t credit anyone else for your successes either.

You and only you can do this.  I’ve just gone over the first three of the 7 Secrets. 

Know what it is you really want, and believe that you should have it.  More than believe, know that it’s yours already.  This is how you make a spell that can’t fail. 

If you know before you cast the spell that it will work, the spell is only a formality of a foregone conclusion.  Magick is all in the knowing. 

Not knowing how to do the magick, but knowing that the spell is going to be successful.  Knowing that you will be successful.

I‘ve only just scratched the surface of these 7 things that you need to apply to your life on a daily basis, and already this looks like a long form sales ad.  

Secret #4

Learn to see the world through magickal eyes.  Witchcraft isn't something you do just on the full moon, or at the holidays.  You must learn to live your Craft. 

The most likely reason you left whatever religious Path you were born to, is that you saw all those people committing themselves in church on Sunday, and acting completely different every other day.

Giving lip service to being a Witch will get you no more satisfaction than being a Sunday Christian.  

If you are ever to truly be a Witch, you must be a Witch 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Only by living your Craft, can you see the things hidden from most people, and take advantage of situations for your own benefit.

I don't mean stealing opportunities from others, I mean seeing what is there for the taking, that 99% of people miss.  If you are going to be a Witch, you must also be a magickal thinker.  

That means seeing and feeling the ways of things so that you can draw out the ends you desire, not as they might randomly happen.

Secret #5

What it comes down to is attitude.  Your attitude.  Quantum Physics has shown us that the nature of the Universe is anything but stable.  Reality is in fact variable.

Reality is a fabric that is being constantly woven.  The pattern of the weave isn't set until it is observed.  

What this means is that a person who understands this fact, can actually create the reality they desire.  That is magick.

If you go through life thinking how horrible your life is, that is what your life gives you.  Because that is what you expect.  Your personal reality is what you make it.  

Everyone has the ability to change their personal reality.  Most don't realize that they can be and do whatever they choose.  99% of all people are stuck in a loop that has them believing that they can never change the way things are.

Magickal thinkers know better.  We decide what we want, and then we pursue it.  We do whatever it takes, to get to our goals.  We don't allow others to tell us we can't, or that it's not possible.

Secret #6

Whatever you do, you must take responsibility.  That's not hard when things work out, but what about when something goes wrong?

It's always easier to blame someone else for all your problems.  It's easier to point fingers at others when the Boss wants to know why the account was lost.

People are naturally attracted to those who they see as being honorable.  Honor is not an abstract code of some sort, it is taking responsibility for everything that you do.

Think about this, who would you rather spend time with, a person who is going to point fingers at you whenever anything goes wrong, or a person who stands up and says that they were responsible?

This is the sort of behavior that attracts others.  People want to be around those who take responsibility for their own actions, good or bad.  You've seen this in action thousands of times.

Think about the people you work with.  Now of those people, there are probably some you'd rather not associate with.  Are these people who are honorable?

Probably not.

By taking responsibility for yourself, you will just naturally attract people to you, and it's not just people.  

By taking responsibility for yourself, you no longer have to waste time worrying about who might find out.  You are now free to spend that time working on bringing to you, the things you want.

Most times, the people you attract to you, also bring with them opportunities that you wouldn't have otherwise found.  Opportunity feeds on responsibility.

Responsibility also brings trust and respect.  Because you are attracting other respected and responsible people toward you, they lend some of that credibility and respect to you just by being there.

Secret #7

You will notice that each of these Secrets is interconnected with each of the others.  That is why it always seems so hard to change things, they create their own mass that has its own momentum.

So you make changes to small things hoping for the best.  Many times nothing seems to happen.  Remember, failure is inevitable.  You will fail in a lot of things you do.

It's not success for failure that determines how well you've done, it's how you handle that success or failure.  Especially failure.

Failure is nothing more than a lesson learned.  Be sure to learn it well.  Once you have learned a particular lesson, you will never have to worry about repeating it.

The failure is never fun, but what it teaches you can lead to some spectacular results.  Stop being afraid of success or failure.  Do the things you want to do, because you want to do them. 

Life is too short to have regrets about what might have been.  Enjoy your life to the fullest, doing anything and everything you desire.  I can assure you that if you do, your life will be much richer for it.
