Wow, it’s that time again? It seems just like yesterday I was writing this article for the January issue of Witch Way.

It’s been a very busy month here. You may have noticed the new section on astrology. I’ve got a few more articles to put up there. In fact, they may already be there by the time you get this.

Astrology has never been my favorite subject. Probably because every book or article I’ve ever read, left me more confused than when I started.

I’m going to try to remedy that. After all, what’s the use of a Divinatory method that no one can understand? This section on astrology won’t make you an astrologer, but it will at least help you to better understand what astrology is, and how it works.

I’ve asked several friends to write articles for me, since I really don’t understand it. Perhaps we’ll learn it together.

I am also working on fulfilling some promises I’ve made in the past about what I’m going to add to CyberWitchcraft. I can’t tell you what they are, but if you’ve been reading Witch Way for any length of time, you know about them.

All I can say for now is that I hope to have a big announcement for you next month. (Geeze, I hope that’s enough time to get it all done...) I think you’ll be pleased when you read about it.

In This Month’s Issue

You may recall that last month I wrote an exercise to help rid yourself of all the things that are holding you back in life. This month, since there’s no Sabbat to talk about, I thought I’d use the Time of The Season column to explain what I’m doing and how. As well as why it works.

Basically, I’m going to take you all on a journey of discovery and magick. If you follow the directions and spells I’ll be giving you throughout the year, you should have something good come into your life. After all, isn’t it the good things in life that we’re all looking for?

You’ll also find a small piece explaining an offer you won’t want to miss. I’ve been listening to you, and you’ve told me what you really want.

Time of The Season

The Wheel of The Year is normally used for sympathetic magick, to bring the things that you want into your life, and to rid yourself of the things that you no longer need.

First, at the beginning of the year, we make the fields of our lives ready for planting the seeds of our desires, by clearing them of the dead stalks of previous growth. Just as the farmer clears the fields he plans to plant in the Spring, we rid ourselves of those thoughts and ideas that we have no need for anymore.

Only by clearing out the debris of prior harvests, both positive and negative, can we make room for the growth of new fertile ideas. Last month, we cleared the fields of our lives with a magickal exercise. We let go all the things that are holding us back from being the person we really want to be.

The Farming Metaphor

Next month is Ostara, so we’ll plant the seeds of whatever it is we most desire. At Beltane, we’ll water, fertilize, and weed the sprouting seeds. By Litha, we’ll be able to take a good look at what is growing, and be able to thin the crop so that what is left has room to grow. Lammas, Mabon and Samhain will let us harvest and manifest what we have grown during the year. By Yule, we’ll have allowed our fields to go fallow until next year.

As you can see by the outline above, we’re using the agricultural model to show us what to do, and when. Witches have been following this model for thousands of years. It was simply how life was. Everyone worked in the fields to ensure that there was enough food for the Winter. It was only natural that their magick would follow the same process.

We have grown away from the agricultural lifestyle over the last 150 years. Most people now, have never even been to a farm. Their food comes from a grocery store. There are even those who don’t understand that the food isn’t actually produced by the grocery store, strange as that sounds.

The Basics of Magick

The fact that we no longer have that connection to the earth we once did, isn’t a huge stumbling block to using a farming outline for magick, as long as you understand the process. You plant what you want to grow in the Spring, and you harvest what you’ve manifested in the Fall. You tend your crop of ideas in the Summer, and you clear the fields for the next planning in the Winter.

As long as you understand this basic template, you can focus on your goal, not the process itself. So what keeps most people from getting everything they really want? The answer is simple and diabolical at the same time. You keep yourself from getting everything you want.

You constantly sabotage your own self by thinking that you can’t have this, you don’t deserve that, or you could never be something else. Magick is an act of Will. Those who are successful in life, have a Will that can not be overcome by anyone or any thing.

If you do not have the Will to work for what you most desire, you will never attain it. You must truly want whatever it is you seek. If you really want something, you will do whatever it takes to get that thing. It’s as simple as that.

If you are constantly thinking that you could never have something, or that you really don’t deserve something, you will never get it because you are constantly telling yourself by these thoughts, that you shouldn’t have it.

If you really want something, no matter what it is, money, love, a big house, a lot of friends, what it is doesn’t matter, if you really want it, you must be willing to do whatever it takes to get it.

That includes changing your attitude about it! You must come to the realization that whatever you want in life, you do deserve.

If you don’t think you deserve it, you’ll never get it. That brings us to the second part of how we sabotage ourselves on a regular basis. In order to put the Will it takes toward manifesting your desires, you must first know exactly what it is that you want.

Now I know most of you who read that last sentence are going to think, ‘But I know what I want!’ Do you? Do you really? Those of you who are wanting money, do you have an exact amount that you want, or do you just want “a lot of money”? If you are looking for love, do you know exactly what traits your perfect partner will have, or are you just looking for “someone to love you”?

These are just two examples, but they tend to be the things most people want in life. In order to focus your entire Will toward manifesting something real, you must first know your true Intent.

It’s not enough to want to win the lotto, you have to know exactly how much that lotto would be worth. You must also know exactly what you would do with that kind of money.

After all, most who do win the lotto end up broke because they never planned what to do with their money, and they end up spending it all, like there’s no end to it. If you want something, you have to know not only what it is you want in exact terms, but you must also know exactly what you would do if you get that thing.

It’s even more important if what you are looking for, is a partner!

I’ve put this out here this month, because next month we plant the seeds of what we want to grow for this year. It’s important that you take the time between now and then, to think about what it is you really want to manifest.

Start out broad. You can say “I want enough money to live comfortably for the rest of my life,” when you first get the idea. Once you have that idea, it’s time to do some hard thinking. In this example, how much money is enough to live comfortably?

How much money would you need to live comfortably for a month? What is the dollar amount? Ok, you’ve got that, multiply it by 12, to see how much you’d need for a year.

Wow! That much?

Do you really believe that you deserve that much money? If you can’t believe that you deserve to have it, you’ll never get it.

You now have two choices, work on believing that you do deserve to have that much, or work with a smaller amount, that seems more reasonable to you.

The choice is yours. You have a month to decide what it is that you most want your life to bring you this year. Continue working on ridding yourself of the things that are holding you back.

This means doing physical effort. If money is holding you back, put more effort into your job, or start looking for a better job. Learn the skills needed to get more money, or a promotion.

Magick doesn’t work in a vacuum. You have to make the effort on this physical plain, in order to achieve the requirements your magick needs to bring whatever you want to you.

This is a hard lesson to learn, and it took me many years to figure it out.

I’m giving you a head start, try not to waste it.

Years ago, I used to teach Witchcraft 101 classes. In those classes, (which ran for 13 weeks) I would explain what Witchcraft is, and how it works. The classes were highly interactive.

I’ve made a lot of friends from those classes over the years.

This was the class you took to help decide if Witchcraft is the Path you want to follow. It covered the basics. It answered the questions everyone has about Witchcraft. Am I a Witch? Can I become a Witch? Do I have magick? What is Witchcraft? Am I too young to be a Witch? Am I too old to be a Witch?
