[Witch Way] Volume #2 Issue #1 -- Litha 2009
June 13, 2009
Hi, Happy Litha!

Ken's Korner

Wow, how fast the year goes!

Itís June already and Midsummer is just a few days away. I know there are those of you who live in a warm climate, who are saying itís much too hot, but personally, I canít wait for the 90 degree days!

Itís been an interesting month. CyberWitchcraft is getting over 100 visitors a day on average now, and I look forward to that number growing. Iíve got several projects in the works for the site, including editing down the many hours of video Iíve shot at various Pagan events.

This is also the anniversary of Witch Way, we are a year old now! (Volume 2, Issue 1) Over the last 12 issues I have tried to put out useful and interesting information. Hopefully we can continue to do so.

Itís always been my aim to provide accurate information on Witchcraft to anyone interested, and I believe that using video to show our community and what we do is a great way to not only show interested people what is out there, but to also show those who have misconceptions about us, that we are not evil or bad people.

With summer here, I expect there will be even more events to film.

In fact Iíll be at the International New Age Trade Show (INATS) here in Denver at the end of the month. Iím going to be taping interviews with famous authors and others who I think our visitors will enjoy. Look for the Interviews section to start growing, with the addition of video interviews.

Iíve also talked to some friends about shooting classes they teach, and offering them through CyberWitchcraft. I wonít go into detail at this time, but I know what people want is good solid information on how to do Witchcraft.

If I can find someone to run the camera, I have plans to create a course on Casting Circle, as well as the possibility of doing some classes on magick.

I donít know exactly how long this will take. Video is a long and involved process when itís done right, and I have very high expectations for production quality. I can assure you that you will not find anything else like it out there.

Enjoy your summer (if you live in the Northern Hemisphere) and get out and take part in your local community. Enjoy life, itís too short not to.

Blessed Be,

Chironís Lyre

A Monthly Column For Astrological Insight

Chiron
On June 16th at 1:50 AM, Jupiter will officially go retrograde (appear to move backwards in its orbit) after ďstationingĒ (appearing to not move in its orbit) for about a day.

Jupiter will remain retrograde until October 12th or so. This is an important retrograde, not only because Jupiter exercises such a strong and benign influence on us, but because of Jupiterís ongoing conjunction (appearing to share the same place in the sky) with Neptune and Chiron.

To quickly recap, the Jupiter-Chiron-Neptune conjunction is unusually long in duration (10 weeks from mid-May to late July), which makes it exceptionally influential. In addition to this, all three bodies involved (the planets Jupiter and Neptune and the planetoid Chiron) retrograde during the conjunction. This is also unusual.

The reason Jupiterís retrograde period is so important to this conjunction is that it is the last of the three to begin its retrograde, while also being the one whose influence is most obvious.

Therefore, the effects of this ongoing conjunction may not become fully apparent to us until after the 16th.

On its own, Jupiter going retrograde in late Aquarius would indicate a re-investment in the Big Picture; each of us taking time out -óor being given time out -óto put time and money into what we want to see in the world long-term.

This could manifest as an increase in charitable giving for many of us, or perhaps revisiting a political, social or philosophical cause that weíve left untended for awhile and then putting in the effort to make sure it looks the way we want it to look.

This is a fantastic time to finish any project already underway; with Saturn having gone direct (started moving forward in its orbit again as seen from Earth after seeming to move backwards) almost a month previously, the health and employment problems plaguing many of us will find a solid and fortunate resolution between now and mid October.

But in this case, Jupiter is not acting alone. For the first several weeks of its retrograde period (June 16th through July 23rd), Jupiter will be conjunct both with Neptune and Chiron, both of which will also be retrograde.

As Iíve stated previously, it may be easy during this time to slip into nostalgia for the good old days when gas was under $2 a gallon, stocks always went up and the U.S. was going to save the world.

Needless to say, mourning for the past is a great way to miss the ďpresentĒ right in front of you. The time from mid June to late July will be a wonderful time for any kind of spiritual, religious or psychological work youíd like to undertake.

However, there is also a great danger of self-deception during this time for all of us. This conjunction tells us there are spiritual forces in the background working in our favor, but our perceptions of everyday reality may be distorted by wishful thinking or past hurts.

Instead of trying to change the world (which many of us may be very tempted to try during this transit), now is the time to change ourselves individually, possibly while bringing in another person to guide us or share the process with.

June 21st through 23rd we will have a conjunction between Venus and Mars in Taurus, and they will both trine Saturn in Virgo.

A trine is an apparent one-hundred-and-twenty-degree angle between planets in earthís sky, and it indicates pleasant good fortune that comes to you (you donít have to work for it).

It is very likely during this time that many of us who are still unemployed and looking for work will find a job, and those already employed may perhaps find an extra source of income.

July 2nd may be a confusing time.

Mercury in Gemini will trine the Jupiter-Chiron-Neptune conjunction in Aquarius, while squaring (forming a ninety-degree angle in Earthís sky) Uranus in Pisces. At the same time, Venus in Taurus will square the aforementioned conjunction, while trining Uranus.

To top it off, Uranus will have begun its retrograde period that day (which will last until Dec 1st). Many of us may feel that day we have too many things on our plate.

The key will be to prioritize; let the material world -ólike Fourth of July plans -ótake care of themselves that day, and focus on what you need in the moment to be content.

Uranus retrograde in late Pisces may indicate a time to re-evaluate the role authority and control play in our lives. We may be confronted with the fact that we have trusted where we should not have, and the months from July through December may indicate a time when many of us take our power back.

Itís doubtful that this will take the form of political confrontation. More likely, the tyrants who will be deposed are the internal ones of fear and greed that we may not have questioned previously.

If there are people in our lives who have consistently steered us wrong, but we havenít let them go out of fear or inertia, the time period from July to December may allow these people to bring just a little bit more joy into our lives...by leaving.

Until next month...

Time of The Season

Welcome to Litha, the year is half over. Can you believe it?

It seems like just last month we were thinking about what it is we wanted to manifest, and now weíre close to harvesting the fruits of our hard work.

We have spent the last six months thinking about what it is we want to manifest. In that time, we have defined and redefined the details of what it is we want to bring to us.

Each time we have brought the goal to mind, or thought about it, we have sent energy toward manifesting it. The more we thought about it, the more detailed it has become in our minds.

This is the basis of magick in Witchcraft, itís all about Intent and Will.

Working out the goal, down to the last detail has helped us focus our Intent to laser sharpness. That focus has helped us put our Will toward attaining that goal.

Magick really isnít difficult, once you understand it. The things that you manifest into your life are the things you most want. The more you want something, the more work youíll do to get it.

It really is that simple.

This is why most Witches fail at one spell or another. They do a half-assed job of deciding what it is they really want, so when they send out energy in the form of a spell, itís scattered and unfocused.

By taking time to focus on the details of what you really want, you also focus your Intent, and the Will follows.

Growing The Crop

At the start of this year we planted a seed. We took time to examine what it was we wanted to bring to us, and then planted a seed in the fertile ground of our subconscious. We have cared for and watered that seed with the energy of thought and desire...our Will.

In the past few months, whatever it is you have been working toward has probably shown signs of being attainable. At least, more attainable than you may have thought before.

This is an important part of the process. In order to work magick, you have to have the confidence that you can get whatever it is that you want.

Until you believe that not only can you get it, but that you deserve to have it, you will not have any chance of attaining your goals.

Witchcraft is confidence building. Nothing that I have told you in the past months is anything you havenít already heard many times before. Itís just phrased differently.

Each time you work at getting to your goal, you send energy toward it. Each time you send energy toward manifesting your goal, you should be working at attaining it. As I have always said, you cannot just cast a spell, and expect anything to happen. You must work on the physical plain as well.

Lithaís Exercise

This month, I want you to put one last push toward your goal. Starting in August we will look at harvesting our crop if itís ready.

If youíve been following this series during the year, you have taken steps both physical and metaphysical toward manifesting something into your life.

Whatever it is that you have wanted, if you still find that you want it, (and it may be that youíve found that what you originally thought you wanted, isnít really what you need) ideas should have been appearing to you in the past months that would help you attain your goal.

You should have seized on these ideas with abandon. Magick is more mental than physical in the sense that it creates a mindset that allows you to be creative with ideas.

By working on the mental and Spiritual level, you find yourself thinking in creative ways toward your goal, and how you can pull it to you.

This month I want you to water the crop you planted earlier this year. I want you to think about whatever it is that you decided to manifest. Find a quiet place where you can sit, or lay down, and close your eyes.

Think about your goal. See yourself with this goal already in your life. See in your mind how your life is with the goal already attained, then work backward to see what things you did to attain the goal.

By seeing your goal and looking backward you may find ideas coming to you that you hadnít thought of. You may find things you can do on the physical plain that you can do now, to help attain the goal.

Meditation is one of the ways Witches use to manifest goals. Itís not just a mental exercise, it can be a practical technique you use to get ideas to help you get whatever it is you want.

How To Find The Pagan Community

I continue to hear from people new to our local community, how hard it was to find us. I always have to wonder how hard they really looked.

We have one of the largest and most visible Pagan Communities in the country, here in Denver. Finding the Pagan community here is easy, if you just know where to look, and the questions to ask.

Granted, Iíve been in this community over 20 years, I know where all the Witchy hangouts are. Even so, I went to Charlotte, NC some 15 years ago for a Science Fiction Convention, and ran into Pagans all over the place.

So why does it seem so hard for people to find their local Pagan community? The last time I heard someone complain about it being hard to find, I asked them what they did to look.

The answer I got was that they went to one of the best known Metaphysical Bookstores in town, and were told by the people behind the counter to check WitchVox.

This seemed incredible to me, so I asked exactly what the person had asked.

ďWhere can I find a Coven around town?Ē

Now it all made sense. The person, through no fault of her own, had asked the wrong question. She was looking for the Denver Pagan community, but thatís not what she had asked for. She had asked about a Coven.

Most Covens are very private, and donít ďlookĒ for new members. If you go asking about Covens to join, even if thatís really what youíre looking for, chances are you wonít get far.

Instead, this person should have asked about the local Pagan Community, and information on what events might be coming up. It may not seem like a huge difference, but the response will be.

So, if you are looking to find Witches near you, here are some things you can do to make your search a little easier.

ē Find a metaphysical Bookstore and ask about open Pagan Events that may be held soon. Most Pagan communities are going to have on-going events and certainly will be most likely to hold gatherings near any of the eight Sabbats. Donít be rude or demanding, simply ask, ďIs there a local Pagan community here?Ē and, ďAre there any open events I might be able to attend, so that I can get to know the local community?Ē

ē Meetup.com Ė It seems that most of the new people Iíve found in the community have come to one of my Meetups. Look on meetup.com for Meetups that may be taking place near you. These may range from discussion groups, to teaching groups.

ē Donít freeze up when someone spots your jewelry. I wear a Pentagram necklace under my shirt, and a Pentagram ring on my right hand. I have learned over the years that the people who ask about my ring, are the people who are open minded enough to talk to. You donít know who that person asking might be, they may be someone curious, or they may be a contact with information on the local Pagan Community.

ē Google Ė This one could be more frustrating than fruitful, only because the people creating websites donít seem to think like normal people, so their keywords may not be even remotely useful. Simply put in the words ďpagan communityĒ your city and state. If you find a site for a group near you, they will usually have some way for you to contact them through email. Tell them that you are looking for the local Pagan community, and that you were wondering if they could help you.

There are a hundred different ways you may use to find your local Pagan Community. What I have listed here are just the first few I could think of off the top of my head. Donít be afraid to look, and donít assume that there isnít another Witch within 1000 miles of you.

You may be surprised when you find out just how close they really are.
