Full Moon Ritual

The following is a Full Moon ritual as done by the Circle of Transformation.  This particular ritual was performed for a newspaper article about the local Pagan coffee shop called The Witches Brew.

CAST THE CIRCLE

High Priest:

Face East. Hold your athamé out at waist level. Walk deosil (clockwise) thrice around the circle perimeter charging it with this chant as you visualize the energy coming from your athame to create the circle. Recite one verse for each of the three circles:

Maiden, cast your circle white, Weave a web of healing light. Round and Round the Circle's Cast, Joining Present, Future and Past

Mother, cast your circle red; Weave the strands of family threads. This Sacred Space shall now be Bound, As I cast this Circle Round.

Old Crone, cast your circle black, Weave the wisdom that we lack.

After casting the Circle, stand in the East facing inward and say,

Thrice is the Circle cast this Day and now begins my Magick Way.

High Priest:

Once the circle has been cast, salute in the following way:

Take up athame and point it to the sky, while saying,

"As above..."

Then lower athame to point it at the ground, while saying,

"So below."

BLESS THE ELEMENTS AND SPACE

High Priestess:

Hold your hand over the water and salt and pass your hand over the element 3 times to banish, and then hold your hand steady to bless. Visualize a sparkling light surrounding and infusing the element while reciting:

"Element of Earth, I cleanse and consecrate thee in the name of the Goddess.

I bring her blessings upon you now. So mote it be."

"Element of Water, I cleanse and consecrate thee in the name of the Goddess.

I bring her blessings upon you now. So mote it be."

Pour the consecrated salt into the consecrated water.

Take the water/salt and go once deosil (clockwise) around the circle. While walking the circle Recite:

Powers of Water and Earth this circle grace. Purify, cleanse, and bless this space."

 
High Priest:

Hold your hand over the censor and pass your hand over the element 3 times to banish, and then hold your hand steady to bless. Visualize a sparkling light surrounding and infusing the element while reciting:

Element of Fire, I cleanse and consecrate thee in the name of the Goddess.

I bring her blessings upon you now. So mote it be."

Use the consecrated fire to light the incense. Then cleanse and consecrate the smoke from the incense (air) as done above while reciting:

Element of Air, I cleanse and consecrate thee in the name of the Goddess.

I bring her blessings upon you now. So mote it be." 

Take up the incense and go once deosil (clockwise) around the circle.

While walking the circle disperse the elements using a fan or feathers. Recite:

"Powers of Fire and Air this circle grace. Purify, cleanse, and bless this space."

Calling the Quarters

EAST:             

Celestial winds come dance and play. 

Bring to our hearts airs of inspiration.  

Impart to us your wisdom.   

So Mote it BE

SOUTH: 

Cosmic fires, come dance and sing. 

Bring with your spark of cleansing, full and rich to our hearts. 

Impart to us your strength.   

So Mote it BE

WEST: 

Astral waters, come dance and sing. 

Bring with you waves of insight, full and rich to our hearts.  

Impart to us your creativity.  

So Mote it BE

NORTH: 

Stellar earth, come dance and sing. 

Bring with you the flowering soil, rich and full to our hearts. 

Impart to us your stability. 

So Mote it BE 

Drawing Down the Moon

Facing the Altar Priestess says:

The Charge of the Goddess

"I am the quickening of the seed in springtime, the glory of ripe fields in summer, and the peace of the quiet woods as snow covers the Earth in winter.  I am the lilt of the maidens' melody in the morning, the patient hand of the Mother and the deep river of the mysteries taught by moonlight.

I give the creatures of the earth the gifts of song rising from the heart, the joy of autumn sunset, the cool touch of the renewing waters, and the compelling call of the drum in the dance.  To you I give the joy of creation and the companionship of beauty to light your days.

By the powers of the steadfast Earth and the wheeling stars I charge thee; by the darkness of death and the white light of birth I charge thee; and by the terrible strength of your human spirit, I charge thee:

Strive always for the growth of your eternal soul; never intentionally diminish your strength, your compassion, and your ties to the earth or your knowledge.

Challenge your mind to never accept complacently that which has been the standard merely for the reason that it is the standard by which the majority judges itself.

I charge thee to act always for the betterment of your brothers and sisters.  To strengthen them is to forge the true chain of humanity, and a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

You are my children, my brothers and sisters and my companions. You are known in great part by the company you keep, and you are strong and wise and full of the powers of life.  It is yours to use them in my service, and I also, am known by the company I keep.

Go forth in joy and the light of my love, turning to me without fear when the darkness threatens to overcome you, and turning also to me to share your triumphs and your achievements, and know in your heart of hearts that we are together in blood and spirit 'til the last star darkens in the sky and winter comes to the universe.

High Priest:

Power blessed to us by the Goddess,

Rise in us for healing,

To replenish and renew our being.

Power blessed to us by the Goddess,

Surround us with strength.

By the power of the Goddess,

So mote it be.

Meditation And Visualation

Sit Down where you are and breathed deeply, there is no need to rush.

 (Pause)

Now is the time of softness, of quiet knowing.

See yourself in your minds eye as you sit.

 (Pause)

Above you is a smiling moon in full glory.

As you look upon the Luna sphere, you see that the light is alive.

 (Pause)

It dances and sings a special song.

It jumps from the surface like a fire and spirals downwards to embrace you.

The touch is cool, yet warm.

 (Pause)

It reaches beyond your skin and saturates every pore, every cell 

you are the moon light. You are the shadows of a star.

 (Pause)

There is no body now to hold you back.

Let your spirit fly with the moon wherever it needs to go.

 (Pause)

When you are ready to come back to the here and now.

 (Pause)

Open your eyes

 (Allow time for everyone to come back to the here and now)

Blessing of the cakes of the cakes and water:

Gracious Goddess,

As we eat these cakes to replenish our bodies,

And drink this water to cleanse our spirits.

May we be blessed by these gifts from your bounty. 

So mote it be.

(Dispense the cakes and water)

DISMISS THE QUARTERS

EAST: 

Spirit of the East, essence of air,

Thank you for reminding us of the power of wisdom.

Hail and farewell. 

Blessed be.

SOUTH:  

Spirit of the south, essence of fire,

Thank you for reminding us of the power of passion and inspiration.

Hail and farewell. 

Blessed be.

WEST: 

Spirit of the west, essence of water,

Thank you for reminding us of the power of healing and insight.

Hail and farewell. 

Blessed be.

NORTH: 

Spirit of the north, essence of earth,

Thank you for reminding us of the power of resolve.

Hail and farewell. 

Blessed be.

The circle is open but unbroken. May the peace of the Goddess,

And the love of the God, go in our hearts.
