How to learn healing?

by Harry McAlister
(Mesa, Arizona)

What are the best paths of studies that will bring about usable knowledge of healing. Energy? Herbalism? Magic?

A friend of mine died not long ago from cancer. Being a witch doesn't make you a God. But I know from published research that prayer, whether it comes from a Buddhist or Christian in large numbers, has been proven to enhance healing in blind studies. I believe this was focused energy.

Education NEW
by: Anonymous

All the rich and developed families should help the poor and unskillful people to support professional paper writing service in their education and other matters. They have not the money to become successful and developed.

Healing is not always the right path.

Thank you for the kind words and thoughts. During my year and a day study which is now on its fourth or fifth year I have met an amazing number of teachers. Which is kind of strange as I was not actually looking for a teacher. Just answers. The best of the information came from a second generation pagan and Ken here at this sight. Jane mentioned above, told me when I folded in dismay, point blank did I know any immortals? I said no I didn't think so. She said we are all on borrowed time from the Goddess and she calls us home when she is darn good and ready rather that makes sense to those left behind or not. When I stopped being angry I had to tell her she was right. Ken mentioned it as well about being upset because you are running late and discovering running late let you miss a horrific accident. Fate is fate. The pagan path I have learned from that loss, from my friend dying, the path set in motion by that death, brought me a new faith, which has strengthened my life like nothing ever has. I am not just happy but for the first time that I can remember in my almost sixty years on this planet, contentment. I would have loved to have whipped out a wand or herbs or divine energy and saved my friend and kept her little girl from being orphaned. But that was not the path chosen for either me or the little girl.

herbs for healing
by: Anonymous

I've practiced strega for 22 years(german witchcraft)as it is a family tradition that my grandfather brought when he immigrated here from germany, and have learned many aspects of the craft. The most useful to me and those in my community who come to me for healing is herbal. What I mean is medicinal herbology not herb magic. I have been practicing herbology for 15 years and there are no religious requirements. Be certain to study well though because not all herbs are harmless, some are toxic when ingested and some are only harmful when mixed wrong. be sure to get legitimate lessons/classes.

Healing

I was hoping other people would answer your question- as I'm not that knowledgeable about what paths are the best for healing. I can only tell you what I know and believe, and at least it will be a start to an answer to your question.

I agree about what you say that we are not gods and that prayer/meditation/energy work-- people working together psychically to bring about change- has been proven to be effective. How it's done and what god-heads we speak to or don't speak to is beside the point, in my opinion. It must be personally meaningful to the practicioner, involve a different state of consciousness (and I include traditional prayer in that rule), and, I believe, that although one person can be very powerful, a sense of community at the very least and actually doing energy work with a group (whether in physical proximity or not) enhances and increases the power of the energy working. And, this group must have 'perfect love and trust,' or a person can't get into the right mindset or the feeling of community.

I also believe that involving other spiritual entities, to help in the energy work also helps power up what you're doing. Whether a person believes that these spiritual beings are part of a mental construct, are manifestations of their own abilities, or actual "living" entities is something I'm wondering about how much that influences a working. I am forming the opinion that the more we truly believe that these entities have 'minds' of their own and are separate from ourselves(as in faith in a higher power or power outside ourselves) powers up the energy working even more, and loses power the less we believe in these entities and intellectualize them.

Those are just my own thoughts and opinions.

As for paths, I've heard of Reiki, working with chi like in Tai Chi, chakras, healing stones, and other Eastern practices which may be a starting point in your search- but not sure that they are 'paths' per se.

I hope people with more experience add their own thoughts to this discussion.
