Wicca

Do you ground or center first in wicca beginning your rituals and how do you center. I'm aware of grounding but how do you center yourself? Does it comes first or after?

But you particularly asked how to center. I think we all find our own answer. I can only tell you what I do and what it feels like so I can tell if I got it.
I close my eyes if there are distractions around me. I breath in thru my nose & out my mouth, exhaling completely 4-5 times then just relax and breath. I tell my inner self to seek center, rather like telling a beloved dog to sit in that it is a command lovingly given, not demanded. I hold that mental space and breath and wait, expecting obedience. It is my outer mind's job to shut up, and my inner mind's job to want to comply. In the solitude, we (inner and outer selves) simply become open, a listening device. Now, for ritual, I "go" to the quarters and listen for and know their individual energy signatures are present. It is a living response. energy touches energy. I feel the connection. There is recognition and greeting. It is very comfortable and respectful.

Re grounding and centering NEW
by: Bonnie

To me grounding is anchoring the energy of the physical and etheric bodies into the earth by visualization, I.e., the roots of the tree sinking into the soil kind of thing. It stabilizes your energy safely so it's not knocking around and getting in the way, and so you don't get out of sinc with your present moment in time and place in space.

Centering is to find the still, quiet place of knowing and union within the deep most part of the Self, and this let's you commune with The Others...or just about anything. When you really hit the spot, all is one and it is very comfortable.

Grounding is done first, then centering. They are basic and natural states of being and something we are built to do so it's not as hard as it sounds.

Grounding & Centering
by: Anonymous

Grounding and Centering is a technique for balancing the energy within your body.

When you feel run down, you can draw more energy in, feeling recharged. When you have an excess of energy, such as nights when you just can't seem to fall asleep, you can release energy so that you no longfer feel jittery or like you have to do something.

Normally, Grounding & Centering is done in ritual after you do a working, be that Magick, or any other form of raising energy.

If you don't Ground & Center, you may feel drained, or antsy because your energy level is too low or too high.

You Ground & Center at the same time. You place your hands on the ground, or slap the ground, feeling the energy move from your body, through your hands to the ground, and back.

It's important to realize the energy flows both directions. If you have an excess of energy, it will flow from you, if you are deprived of energy, it will flow to you.

You will know when to stop grounding.
