Perhaps instead of adressing a specific deity you can refer to them as Lord and Lady.

This is completely up to you and what you believe. I'm not sure what you mean about the historical aspect- do you mean you'd rather worship what you feel to be true rather than what people have worshipped in the past? You don't *have* to do anything. If you feel 'called' by a certain god or goddess, of course it would even then be your decision: do you devote your life to this being, or not? Do you feel a connection to any of them? If not, that's ok! Don't feel any pressure to do as all other pagans/those who practice witchcraft do (and, you can't: we are all different and there is no *one* way). We are all seeking out what the truth is about our reality, and are all on our own paths.
